How to set strong password as per the company policy

Hi Team - I'm new to UC4 Scheduling tool.

When we create an user, We'll select the option "Change password with next login" & the user will change his default password for the first login.

So we want UC4 system should adhere below options while user is resetting his default password. 

Maximum/minimum length
Lowercase/uppercase
Use of digits
Use of special characters

Could you pls explain. Pls refer the attached screenshots for more info.

Hi.

You need to open the variable UC_CLIENT​_SETTINGS in all clients that you want these settings to apply to, and add the relevant entries, such as:

PWD_AGE_MAX
PWD_ATTEMPTS_MAX
PWD_LENGTH_MAX
PWD_LENGTH_MIN
PWD_CONTAINS_LOWER_CASE
PWD_CONTAINS_NUMBER
PWD_CONTAINS_SPECIAL_CHARACTER
PWD_CONTAINS_UPPER_CASE

The first four take a number, the later four take "Y" or "N". They should be mostly self-explainatory, refer to the documentation for UC_CLIENT_SETTINGS for further details.

And you can not set policies only for the enforced password change, these policies apply to each and every password set while they are in effect.

The path depends on your installation. For me, it's in \0010\UC4_SYSTEM\SYSTEMVARIABLEN, but it'll be in a different folder for you. Just use the search box to locate it.

In the odd case it doesn't exist, you can probably create it in any folder. It's an object of type VARA.

Looks like I don't have it. Let me create a one.

Do we need to follow any file name (or) extension. Or else can I create a text file like this (sample.txt) & can add the below parameters in my local machine ?

PWD_CONTAINS_LOWER_CASE = Y
PWD_CONTAINS_NUMBER = Y
PWD_CONTAINS_SPECIAL_CHARACTER = Y
PWD_CONTAINS_UPPER_CASE = Y

Hi.

​You need to find and edit (or create, but unlikely) this variable in Automic, e.g. by using the search field. A text file will NOT do, that's not the same. Also ensure your account has sufficient rights to edit the UC_CLIENT_SETTINGS variable, best use some sort of admin account.

May I also recommend at this point that an Automation Administrator training might be a valuable ressource.

UC_CLIENT_SETTINGS is NOT a file. It is a VARA Object in the Automic system.

Perhaps you should consider to attend an Automic training if you need to administer an Automic system...

Have you thought about, to connect the Automation Engine to your Active Domain via LDAP or better Secure LDAP? It's not complicated, most Active Domains use already strong passwords and users defined in the AE must not remember a different userid and password to access the WLA.

If you look in docs.automic.com you will see, it's not complicated.
