French Language appearing in Job Report

  • 1.  French Language appearing in Job Report

    Posted Apr 06, 2020 03:48 AM
    Hi,
I have recently upgraded to 12.3.2 and today for the first time I noticed an error in my Unix  Job Report in French

U02003043 Tous les blocs (limite '11') du fichier 'execle()' n'ont pu etre transferes.
    translates to
All the blocks (limit '11') of the file 'execle ()' could not be transferred

I checked my Unix Agent .ini and the LANGUAGE setting is commented out.
I also checked my Engine .ini and the LANGUAGE is set to English (E).

Is there somewhere else this could be set by mistake?

    John.

    Hi,

If that's be a setting, I'd think you'd see more French messages. Many more ... :)

Are you sure you are using up-to-date uc.msl (server) or ucx.msl (agent) files? My files list that message as a different U-number, and consequently have a different message for that given U-number, which puzzles me somewhat.

Yes, both my uc.msl (server) or ucx.msl (agent) files are taken from latest release.
    well, that's not quite true....
My Server binaries are from 12.3.2 and my agent binaries are 12.3.1

All my other messages and report are in English, which is weird...

    Jepp, documentation confims.

    U02003043 is: Invalid '&01' call. Error code: ('&02' - '&03')

    https://docs.automic.com/documentation/webhelp/english/ARA/11.2/AE/11.2/Messages/Content/20030xx.htm

Something's fishy here. Either Automic lost track of it's own error codes, and/or hard coded some message, or your message files appear to be not matching.

@Carsten Schmitz So what should I do?
Is this a bug on the new version I am on?

    Hi John,

Sorry, I don't know how to go about this from here either. If you can reproduce it and it concerns only one message, personally I'd consider filing a ticket with them because that might be a bug they should investigate.

(Or, if your mileage with support is as good as mine, maybe we'd all be better off just learning French ;)

Sorry I can not offer anything else!

    Carsten

    Hi John,

You could delete all French messages and check what happens. Easily done with Notepad++ (see screen shot)

    Cheers

I think what Christof is suggesting is, remove it from the uc.msl or ucx.msl files? Make a backup copy first!

That way, you could find out if it's coming from the message files or hard coded somewhere else in the product (assuming they don't cache that stuff anywhere). If you can find the message in question, you could also alter it slightly and see if that alteration shows up in the Engine, then you know the same thing.

E.g. replace some words, such as make it:

U02003043 Les tickets  (limite '%s) du fichier 'support()' n'ont aucun sens.

Good idea, but even if you prove this is a bug you'll eventually have to file a ticket to get it resolved :)

In a related note, I just checked in my engine. I get this in English:

U00029015 Job '781283268': Not all blocks (Limit '120') have been transferred from file 'C:\not\going\to\reveal\my\real\filenames\no_sir-txt'.

But when I log in in German, I get it in German.

Could it be that a french message is cached at your end? Do you have any French users? Maybe it's even cached in the Java application server (AWI), not sure if they'd do that. Maybe try disabling or clearing the browser cache first?

    Hth,

hmmmm....maybe not directly related, but nevertheless interesting:

The server has it's own uc.msl. And the AWI also has its own. If I modify both and restart server, AWI and Tomcat, the message should actually change. Instead the message keeps being slightly different and my new message does not show up at all:

JOBI.T1 | CR/1000- Object 'JOBI.T1 ' could not be deleted because it is being edited by ' CR/1000'.
    vs
object '&01' cannot be deleted because it is being edited by user '&03' since '&02'.

I wonder where the shown AWI message comes from. Any ideas?

    Cheers
    Christoph

    Any ideas?

Jepp. Seems like it's also hard coded in ae-java-api.jar, part of AWI:

    # for i in *.jar ; do unzip -c $i | grep "be deleted because it is being" && echo $i ; done
00020217EEObject '&01' cannot be deleted because it is being edited by user '&03' since '&02'.
04006505EAObject '&01' could not be deleted because it is being edited by '&02'.
    ae-java-api.jar

edit: that doesn't have the "blocks transfered" message in it though. I think these are different types of messages, those from the engine and those from AWI.
