v12.0.3 Service Manager does not load AE server process names

Today I upgraded one of our systems from v12.0.2 to v12.0.3. I noticed that the full AE server process names no longer appear in the Service Manager GUI.

Here’s what one of our v12.0.2 systems looks like:

And here’s what the v12.0.3 system looks like:

I confirmed that the format of the commands is identical:
    /AE_Server/ucsrvwp /AE_Server/ucsrv.ini -svc%port%
Other than this, the AE seems to work fine. Has anyone else seen this?

I've never seen the full process name there, it usually said something like

    UC4 WP-Server [ENV#WP042] - 1337 connections

This is also shown with the Windows Service Manager Dialog 12.0.3 for me, I don't see the abbreviated form fro your screenshot.

However, I noticed that with JWP and JCP, it does not list the part in angular brackets nor, more importantly, the number of connections. I assumed this is by design for any Java-based server processes, but it's sub par nonetheless.

    edit: tried with SMD 12.0.3+build.901

The names showing up in v12.0.3 are the short names (e.g., WP1). The server role, the actual process name in brackets (including the system name), and the number of active connections do not appear for v12.0.3. They appear fine for v12.0.2 and v12.1.0.

(The JWP and JCP should show the actual process name and number of connections. Just be sure to include -svc%port% in the command string.)

Hm, my mileage seems to differ then. This is what I get with 12.0.3:

Cheers for the tip with the -svc%port%, I will investigate that.

    Hi,

I think this Knowledge Entry is talking about this bug: 10000

Thanks Josef_Scharl_103. That is what we are seeing, and we are running the SMgr on Linux.

Carsten_Schmitz_7883, I assume you are running the SMgr on Windows. Can you confirm this?

Service Manager Dialog (as shown on screenshot) is on Windows 7 SP1 Build 6.1.7601 64 Bit.

The Service Manager it connects to (i.e. where the AE server processes are) is an Oracle Linux 7.4 with Kernel 3.10.0-693.2.2.el7.x86_64.

Perhaps the particular flavor of Linux makes a difference. This system is SuSE Linux 11 with kernel 3.0.101-107

    Yes, Michael. You are right.
It’s the Service Manger, which is the faulty component. The Service Manager Dialog seems to be ok.

In that case ... this is my Linux binary version, apparently:

    # strings ucybsmgr | grep build
    12.1.0+build.920

edit: oh right, we updated the Linux part to 12.1 - maybe it's a bug in 12.0.3, but fixed in 12.1 already?

Well that explains it then. Our v12.1 SMgr also works fine on Linux.

What are you doing on such an ancient release then? That's almost end of life, not? :D

    (joking here ...)

fwiw, I didn't see the faulty behaviour with 12.0.3 either (that's the version we had on that server before 12.1), but alas ...
