NFS mounts intermittently alarm

    Folks,

    We upgraded to 9.20 and migrated customer hubs to this. Customer hubs are at 7.93 and customer robots cdm is 6.30.

    Since this upgrade to 9.20, customer robots are reporting NFS as unavailable intermittently.  It will report it unavailable.  The alarm when then clear and within a short time, it will report it unavailable again.  This process keeps happening all through the day.  Any Ideas?

    So this is not a UIM version issue this is a CDM probe version issue.
    The first thing I would suggest is to update CDM to a current version and see if it does not resolve the issue.

    We took it to 6.42 for 9.20 and that does the same thing.

    we would need more details from loglevel 5 logs from CDM to provide more insight.
    this sounds like an environmental issue base on the information so far.

    We had to do the following to get this work

    1. Delete the cdm probe via IM
    2. Delete /opt/nimsoft/probes/system/cdm directory
    3. Redeploy the cdm probe (6.42)

    Once we did that, the NFS alerts stopped.  Seems there is something left in the cdm dir that is messing up

    Is there anyway from IM/AC to delete all the files for a probe without logging into the server?  We have to open tickets to the OS team to do it for us.  This is for 168 robots so not a small job.

    Anyway to mass delete a probe under a customer hub?

    Wow that is a strange issue that I will make a note of. You may be able to delete remote directories using a custom nas script when you get the errors but nothing supported. You will need to login and perform the deletion.

    Once we delete the directory and re-deploy the 6.40 cdm, it doesn't alert again.  So something in upgrading the cdm probe is not getting cleared up.  I need to open a bug report

    HI Keith,

    Don't like to monitor NFS using the cdm file system as it should be monitored where it is physically housed, for space. You can use dirscan for other properties. Anyway this could happen with network issues or mount options, is it soft mounted? The fstab or mnttab is losing the mount. You may be able to verify the OS is seeing this also by checking /var/adm|log/messages.
