  • 1.  Change MSSQL to MySQL UIM Database

    Posted Jul 23, 2021 03:47 PM
    Hi Guys,

We are thinking about changing our database technology from UIM, today we are using MSSQL 2012 and would like to move to MySQL 5.7.

To make this change, would it just change the data_engine connection settings for the new database?

Today our environment is like this:

    UIM: 9.0.2
    Primary Hub: Windows 2012 R2
    UMP: Windows 2012 R2
DB: Windows 2012 R2 and MSSQL 2012 (SP3) Enterprise Edition

    Thanks.

No, doing that will result in the data_engine pointing to a database server with no database. The database is created during the installation when the installer runs the scripts in the data_engine folder.

Hello David Michel and Dhanunjaya Rao Lakhinana

Thanks for the clarification on this matter, it will help in our decision on the UIM update.

It is not recommended to change the data_engine connection as David mentioned. we recommend to have a fresh UIM installation with MS SQL Server as Backend.
