  • 1.  Error in Readme of uimapi_20.10_HF2.txt ?

    Hi!
Could that be a copy + paste error in that Readme-File

"Steps to apply the current patch:
    1. Deactivate the wasp probe in the UMP Robot.
    2. In the UMP Robot, back up the following folders to another location:
    <UIM>/probes/service/wasp/work/*
    <UIM>/probes/service/wasp/webapps/uimapi
    3. Delete 'work' folder from the location <UIM>/probes/service/wasp/
    4. In the Primary HUB Robot, back up the following:
    <UIM>/archive/uimapi.zip
    5. Import the current hotfix (uimapi_20.10_HF2.zip) to the archive.
    6. Deploy the hotfix package to the UMP Robot.
    7. Verify that the following file in the UMP Robot has been updated:
    <UIM>/probes/service/wasp/webapps/uimapi.war
    8. Activate the wasp probe in the UMP Robot.
    "

The Steps told me to deploy it on the UMP, but... as far as I know and regarding to the documents the UIMAPI has to be deployed on the mainhub, threrefore there ist no "<UIM>/probes/service/wasp/webapps/uimapi" etc.

    From the documentation:
    Deploy the uimapi Package
The uimapi package is available as a local package in the Archive after you install or upgrade to CA UIM 9.0.2. Deploy the uimapi package on the primary hub robot in your CA UIM 9.0.2 environment to access the uimapi REST APIs.

So bad QualityControl or intentional to deploy a uimapi on the UMP.

    cheers
    Matthias

In most installations, the UIMAPI is deployed on the UMP robot as this server usually has User access where the primary hub does not.
It can be run on either.
By default, the UIMAPI is not installed.

Hmm.... that doesnt answer my question... but anyway.... hehe but where to put if there is no ump anymore, huh? Like in 20.3 :->
However...still think the patchinstruction is not accurate, since im my case there is a webservice_rest on ump, but never ever a uimapi :-),

    cheers

Sorry, I guess the question was not clear to me then.

So the UMP  is replaced by the operator console robot in 20.3 and so will be designed to be deployed there.
This REST service can be deployed on the primary hub that run wasp, a UMP that runs wasp or an operator console that runs wasp.

    hope that helps clarify.

Agree the documentation does say to deploy to the primary hub, so it does raise a good question as to the validity of this readme, and to that don't have a definitive answer. Been some times since testing it, but did find a problem with it deployed to the ump robot, sorry don't have the details on that. That said for the most part it does work when deployed to the ump robot. Bottom line it seems to me it should be deployed to the primary hub and not the ump robot.

With 20.3 uimapi is still deployed to the primary hub and webservices_rest is deployed to the OC robot.
The url for the uimapi swagger changes to http://servername/uimapi/swagger-ui.html

    Hi David

Thanks to the Lord, someone who understand my talking!
    Thats is an answer!!

    Kudos!!

Thats also my understanding and my testing, I can replicate rest-calls which work on the mainhub, but not on the ump, therefore deploying it on the ump doenst seems an option :-), as conclusion I stumbled over the readme.

    Thanks again!

    Cheers
