@David Michel Nice that you have changed the title of the ideation, but should the compatibility page be updated to indicate that although Broadcom supports MS-SQL 2016+ but is using unsupported microsoft software to do so! ?
@Olaf Pape I hope that like mongodb issue, that broadcom realise this issue is not going away and actually address it.
I hope more people see this and upvote the ideation
https://community.broadcom.com/participate/ideation-home/viewidea?IdeationKey=f026579f-025f-4812-8591-6395f5c0cc7b as this is going to become more of a problem as we try to identify the risk for changes and updates to UIM

Subject: Missing MSOLEDBSQL driver support
Hi @David Michel,
it's been over three months since my last unanswered post and nothing has changed yet. Also the latest version of the data_engine (v20.31) has no change in the supported MS-SQL drivers.
The issue has been on my radar for over a year, but product support apparently hasn't.
It would be nice if something changes with this issue and not like with some other problems up to 2 years pass.

Hi @David Michel,
long time ago and nothing happens, as far as I can see.
Is support of MSOLEDBSQL on the roadmap for data_engine and the other probes?
Is it planned for 20.3.3.?

Thank you for the further research into this.
So SQLNCLI11 is supported only up to SLQ Server 2014, and UIM is supporting 2012, and 2014 so we still need SQLNCLI11 there.
This seems to come down to just what your original post is pointing out that UIM is still lacking support for MSOLEDBSQL.
Have not seen it in the list for the upcoming 20.3.1 so posted it at Ideation.

Hi David,
further investigation shows me that also the SQLNCLI11 driver is not supported.
As you can read here (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/native-client/applications/support-policies-for-sql-server-native-client?view=sql-server-ver15) and here (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/28268/sql-native-client-110-support.html) SQLNCLI11 is only supported up to MS SQL Server 2014, i.e. from MS SQL Server 2016 and newer not supported anymore.
There seem to be environments where the connections of SQLNCLI11 and SQL 2019 work and environments where this combination does not work.
Kind regards

Hi,
I understand the Microsoft page "note" that SQLNCLI is deprecated regardless of the version of SQLNCLI.
A little further down on the page you can find this note:
»To use the new Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server in existing applications, you should plan to convert your connection strings from SQLOLEDB or SQLNCLI, to MSOLEDBSQL.«

Hi,
is it just to me? I'm missing support for the current MSOLEDBSQL driver within the current version.
According to Microsoft (Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server - SQL Server)
the current usable DB drivers of the data_engine (SQLOLEBB) and (SQLNCL) are outdated/depracted.
Has anyone here seen statements on this from Broadcom?
Thanks.
