  • 1.  Upgrade from 20.1 to 20.3 - Installation not detected

    Hi

    When trying to upgrade our Windows 2019 - UIM 20.1 installation to UIM20.3, the installer does not detect our running installation and tries a clean install. Support is rejecting the case as not part of scope... :(

    I have upgraded other servers in our lab with out issues, but this production server is complaining.

    Anyone experienced similar or have suggestions to workaround?

    The installer looks for:
    the hidden folder C:\Program Files\Zero G Registry\.com.zerog.registry.xml
    or on linux it'll be a file called /var/.com.zerog.registry.xml

    figuring the Nimsoft location is still C:\Program Files (x86)\Nimsoft yes it should have picked it up. 
    Check C:\tmp\ca_uim to see if it has any additional info. 
    Note that log is cumulative so it will start with the install of the older versions.

    2020-11-12 19:13:37,101 INFO ia.UIMServerProductRegistryCheckAction:nimInstallAction:62 [AWT-EventQueue-0] - Product is not installed. Setting upgrade flag == fals
    OK so it is not finding the registry entry for it. 
    Think this is what it looks for. 
     
    other than taking a snapshot of the systems prior to proceeding not sure what the next best step is. 
    guess first thing is to check if it is there or not. 
    could export from another hub and import, 
    or just proceed with the install and enter in all the same info as you have now.

    I verified the registry config. There were one missing component; ArchiveUrl. I added the string, but didn't have any impact...

    I'm open for any suggestions.

    I sorted out the issue. For some reason the property file used by the installer was missing.

    C:\Program Files\Zero G Registry\.com.zerog.registry.xml

    I copied the file from an other server. Problem solved. The installer now detects the old installation and prompts to upgrade.

    I did't catch the missing file, just found the folder... You spotted this directly David. Good job!
