    Hi all.
    It is possible to increase the size of accepted characters in a "custom_1" field for to document from USM?

    The short answer is no, at least that's the answer I got at one point.

    There are underlying database constraints that drive it since what's supported there varies from vendor to vendor and version to version what is allowed in a character field without going to a text or blob. You get the least common denominator. 

    The MS SQL server 8.51 schema gives you a varchar(255) field for instance. You might be able to edit that but then you'd face the risk that some other place that was used would then break if you put too much data into the field.
