  • 1.  UIM Flash Depreciation?

With Adobe Flash being deprecated in 2020, what are the plans for replacing the flash components in UIM? Chromium is disabling by default starting in 76 (July time frame) and removed by 87 (December 2020).

Work has been underway starting with the uim 8.x revisions replacing the flash portlets with html5. Not sure about how & when the remaining flash components will be dealt with. For insight into this, ask your account rep to make the queries, or attend the next roadmap.

Had a talk with Product Team about this in the past.

At the time of talk, I was informed that :

    • Operator Console would take flash dependent UI over.
    • More importantly no plan to re-write "USM" in html5.

Roadmap session is more suitable chasing this types of information.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Yu and @David Michel

I can think that CA UIM 8.51 SP1 and 9.02 working only with flash? With exception that in 9.02 Operator Console work with html5 right?
But if I install CABI for dashboard presentation all is html5? thi is true?

    we have a similar problem.

beacause of legal reglulations aren´t we allowed to use eol or unsupported products.

So we have to do a Server und Client update.

The newest Version of UIM still needs Flash which we can not use and following the documentation some probes have to be configured at the WebGui.

CABI, Operator & Admin Console are not using flash.

the next release which is expected around the end of this month continues to use flash. Work is underway for a release after that which will be redesigned without flash. Details of how that will be accomplished, or when, are not yet available.

As always, if available engage your account manager for inside and early information on it.
