  • 1.  CDM probe is not getting activated

    Posted Jul 13, 2018 10:57 AM

    Hi Folks,

We are trying to enable CDM monitoring on a windows 2008 Enterprise server 32 bit  version but with no luck. The CDM probe gets a PID(process Id) allocated but it does not get a port.we have other monitoring such as database monitoring set up on the same server which is completely working fine. It's just the CDM that's not working.

We have uninstalled and reinstalled the nimsoft agent on the server and then we ran in to the below pop up thrown by Visual studio.

"An unhandled win32 Exception occured in CDM.EXE.

The Just-In-Time debugger was launched without necessary security permissions. To debug this process, the Just-In-Time debugger must be run as an administrator. Would you like to debug the process?"

    CDMProbe Version:5.80

    UIM-8.5.1

Did anyone ran in to the above error?Any pointers would be highly appreciated .

    Thanks,

    Vineesha.

    Hi Shawn,

    Thanks for your reply.

Nothing is getting logged in the cdm.log file (log file is empty) and the probe is not getting activated (it's in Yellow colour from Admin console) the probe is not able to get a port on the server as well.

We have gone through the links you mentioned already and tried the steps but our issue still persists.

     Thanks,

    Vineesha.

    Hi Vineesha,

I would suggest opening a support case so that can be looked at.

You may want to to change the loglevel to "5" and upload the cdm.log and cdm.cfg file to the support case.

    Thank you,

    Shawn

    Hi Vineesha

You can also check with cdm 6.30 which is latest GA version.Observed that you are running 5.80 cdm version

    https://docops.ca.com/ca-unified-infrastructure-management-probes/ga/en/alphabetical-probe-articles/cdm-cpu-disk-memory-performance-monitoring/cdm-cpu-disk-memory-performance-monitoring-release-notes

You should open a support case as Shawn suggested if issue persists with logs (cdm and controller) for further analysis

deploy the latest java_jre & vs2008_redist_x86 packages to the robot and then a clean deploy of cdm. Remove the cdm folder prior to the re-deployment.

We had exactly the same issue, we use cdm 5.61 for W2K8 32 bit but we aren't using MCS at the moment.

In line with the 'use the latest version' you could always update the OS!  (I know, if only it were that simple  )

Hello Vineesha, can you run the cdm.exe binary from a command prompt once to see which error message comes up there ?
