  • 1.  How to send email using emailgtw probe ?

    HI,

    I have configured NAS probe by adding a new AO and also added a profle in emailgtw probe, but since I'm a beginner and a complete novice in using CA UIM, I'm unable to send the emails by using the "emailgtw" probe. I would appreciate if anyone can help me out.

    Hi Vamsi,

     

    This is what happens before an email is sent:

     

    1. NAS AO profile matches an alarm based on criteria you have configured (is this occurring)?

    2. When AO profile matches the alarms it sends a message to the bus with subject "EMAIL" (is this occurring?)

       you can answer this question by checking Dr.Nimbus for "EMAIL" subject messages:

    3. EmailGtw subscribes to all messages with subject "EMAIL" and then sends an email using the recipient info on the message, and the email server details defined in it (Is this occurring?)

    If these articles do not help you, please let us know, detailing as much as possible, how far did you get with the configuration and what it is not working exactly.

    Hi Marco,

    The links provided by you seems to be very helpful, but I'll be glad if there's something more information on SMTP and Exchange  servers as I'm finding it difficult to get the testing criteria passed.

    what is your SMTP or exchange server type and version you are trying to use?

    We support most generic SMTP servers and exchange server 2007 and 2010.

     

    Currently we do not have support for SAAS options such as office365.

     

    You might want to test your SMTP communication using telnet and see if that works

    this should be done from the primary where the gateway probe is installed.

    Yes, I'll surely look into that Gene and probably since it is for testing purpose I would initially try checking it with the gmail server.

    Hi Issac, I have gone through this documentation and I'm facing an issue at SMTP configuration as I don't have one to specify over there and hence shifted to exchange server where I can use other user credentials.
