    Hi All,

We have cdm probe to monitor the FS usage of the system ,which monitors the core usage of the partition .Apart monitoring the partition the probe must be capable to show the usage of the top consuming folders or files .Whenever  the alert triggers for the partition again the operator  must login into the system to check which folder is consuming more space ..There are many third party software which helps to scan the partition and gives the top consuming folders .Since UIM is a advanced monitoring tool ,it is must have a native feature to do a folder -level monitoring  .There is any future plans regarding this? Please suggest .

    Hi,

You might be able to use the dirscan probe for this purpose. It allows you to monitor directories/files and has several options to leverage. If you set up a profile you can monitor a given directory/folder and generate an alarm based on a defined threshold, e.g., XYZ log utilized space:  2 files found occupying 9.13 Mb, expected <= 7 Mb. You can also run an automatic action (command) when a threshold has been passed. See also: dirscan (File and Directory Scan) - CA Unified Infrastructure Management Probes - CA Technologies Documentation

    Regards,

    Steve

Choose the Scan directory Tab and set up a profile to monitor C:\Users and 'Recurse into subdirectories,' if desired, then set the pattern for the type of files, e.g., *.dat etc. and then under alarm messages tab, set the 'Space used by files' in C:\Users or the 'Size of file' for individual files. Configure the alarm threshold "Watch" and set the expected value and operator for the alarm threshold. Set the alarm threshold low enough to test generating an alarm.

    example alarm:

Users: Users size of file 10240.00 bytes, expected <= 3 bytes ({9D7E7D94-AF63-11E5-93FD-005056867C4D}.dat)
