  • 1.  Email Alerts for Specific devices.

    Posted Jun 20, 2016 03:28 AM

    Hi all,

    Using UIM/UMP 8.0.

    Requirement is to configure the email alerts for some specific devices alarms to their concerned guys.

    Like the discovered devices by cisco_ucm probe, snmp discovery wizard devices alarms required to send to an email of concerned guy.

    Having single domain and a hub.We have successfully configured a mail server and a profile of email guy in the 'emailgtw' probe. Also configured a profile in the NAS probe >Auto Operator, in which configured cisco_ucm probe in the NMS Probe Name option.But the issue is how can we get the snmp wizard devices email alerts.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

    can you provide more detail on what you mean:

    "How can we get the snmp wizard devices email alerts:"

    Any alarm that comes into nas you should be able to create an AO profile that will email the people that you need.

    Are you having a problem creating additional AO profiles or getting an alarm into NAS?

    Perhaps snmp wizard is the snmpcollector probe so try using that for the nas ao.

    As a side note you are doing yourself a disservice by continuing to stay on 8.0 considering all the enhancements and fixes in 8.4 SP1, not to mention 8.0 is past end of service.

    Hi.

    We don't know which probes are in use in your environment.

    SNMPCollector is a SNMP probe, but there are also the other SNMP probes.

    Regards,

    Yu

    At start we were getting email alerts of some devices, we had created all required probes by separating each probe by commas in one AO profile> NMS Probe Name option. Then we 've created additonal same user profiles and added additonal req. probes in AO profile> NMS Probe Name option.

    Now from previous some days, customer are not getting any email alerts.

    Kindly review the log and configuration files of both the emailgtw and nas probes.

    Hi -

    I suspect that the problem is that all of your email AO profiles have the same order number (1).  I do not think this is supported.  I believe each AO profile has to have a unique order number.  Since all 3 of your email AO profiles are identical, you can actually combine these in a single email AO profile but you need to use a valid regular expression to list all of the probes that you want to match with this profile.  Your new email AO profile would then look like the following:

    <Shoaib email>

             active = yes

             action = EMAIL shoaib.yasin@pk.link.net

             overdue = 5m

             level = major,critical

             probe = /interface_traffic|snmpcollector|cisco_ucm/

             visible = 0

             order = 1

             break = no

    </Shoaib email>

    Thank you Kathryn.

    Now we have created an email profile for system guy having own different probes i.e; hyperv|sqlserver|exchange_monitor|clariion with order =1.Similarly, for second email profile for network guy having different probes configured in it i.e cisco_monitor|power|cisco_ucm with order =2.

    The users are getting their devices email alerts, that's nice.

    Both users have so many devices which are discovered by the snmpcollector and interface_traffic probes, how can we configure these two probes in AO too, so that both users will also receive their own devices (discovered by using these two probes) email alerts ?
