  • 1.  Change the port for NFA RIB service in CAPC?

    Posted Jul 30, 2014 03:14 PM

Is there a way to change the RIB service port (8681) CAPC (v2.3.3) uses to request data from NFA (v9.2)?

I know how to change it in NFA, but when I do CAPC is quite unhappy. Tried a (full) sync of the data source, without luck.

NFA currently does not support changing the RIB Service port from 8681.

Also running the NFA Rib Service in HTTPS is also unsupported.

I'd recommend creating a new Idea for this.

Christopher, thanks for the quick reply!

Looks, like this port is hard-coded somewhere.

After I configured SSL for CAPC and NFA, data/views from NFA wre no longer available in CAPC until I configured https for RIB as well. In the logs I saw that CAPC tried to reach the RIB services using https.

If this is unsupported, can you please point me to some instructions how to set up https except for RIB?

    Cheers!

It is indeed, unsupported, there was an procedure floating around to get it working, but it was untested by development/QA and we found other intermittent problems with connecting to NFA.  So I'd recommend switching the RIB service back to its default HTTP settings.

As for using HTTPS for the NFA data source for drilling down to the NFA web page you go to "Admin->Data Sources" and edit the NFA Data source.

Uncheck the box that says "Same as Data Source".

And under the "Web Console" section set it to use HTTPS and port 443.

For The top section "Data Source" set it to HTTP and port 80 like below:

So far, https for RIB seemed to have worked ok, but I will disable it following your suggestions.

Would be a good idea to have better documentation about this.

    Thanks!

I agree I wish there was better documentation on this and I did raise this as an "Idea" a while back and it looks like it is being considered for the future.  See the Idea post below, its about SSL with NFA in general.
