    Hi,

    • ADA 9.3.78
    • Steel head inline configuration.
    • VMware environment

In our environment we have standard conectors connected to GigaStor collectors, used for measuring our internal application TCP traffic.

We also have Steelhead devices in our remote offices and would like to start monitoring the optimized and unoptimized traffic( at the HQ network edge where the steelhead manager is located), but our current standard connectors are on VMs. Should we build a physical multihomed server for this task or can a virtual machine machine be used? (There are no physical NICs!)

    Thank you in advance.

    AG

A virtual collector could be used. You'd need to add a NIC to your collector and tie that nic to a physical nic on the vmware host. Then span into that physical NIC.

It would be better to use a physical collector.
