  • 1.  .Dat and XML file when audits are downloaded

    Hi,

From policy manager, when we download events (not Save as), we get a zip file which has .dat file and XML file.
How can the customer go through the audits using .dat file. I opened in notepad++ but doesn't seem to be 'read-friendly'.

Does anyone use .dat file to review the audits. If yes, how do you use it?

    Thanks,
    Geethu

    Hi Geethu,

The audit events are saved as a colon-delimited text file within a zip file. The file is accompanied by a digitally-signed XML file containing checksum and metadata information about the exported audit records. The XML file is signed using the Gateway's SSL certificate.

You can import the text file into MS Excel or some similar tool and use the colon delimiter to separate the fields.
