Gateway hosting platform migration from on-prem to public cloud

  • 1.  Gateway hosting platform migration from on-prem to public cloud

    Hi,

We have a need to migrate our existing Gateway platform set up on-premise to a public cloud (e.g. AWS). Our Gateways are utilizing Software versions in Production and Containerized form in Test environments.

    1. Is it possible for us to just lift-and-shift all these nodes to public cloud as-is to speed up the migration
    2. Is it preferable to use the AMI form factor of Gateway on AWS.
    3. Are there things we need to be aware of while utilizing software/container form factors in AWS

Typically I would suggest using the AMI since its like having the Amazon version of an appliance.

Then move the data (db) and configuration data node.properties / system.properties etc.

I do believe you can convert a virtual machine to an AMI Image but I have not done so. I imagine the aws site has documentation.

The only thing I can I think of is loadbalancing and routing in aws can be a challenge.
