  • 1.  Gateway upgrade from 9.0 to 9.4

    Hi,

We have our Gateways currently hosted on AWS using the AWS AMI virtual appliance form factor. We are currently on 9.0 and planning to upgrade this to 9.4. In this regard please confirm if we should be following the steps as documented under:
    https://techdocs.broadcom.com/content/broadcom/techdocs/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/layer7-api-management/api-gateway/9-4/install-configure-upgrade/upgrade-the-gateway/upgrade-an-appliance-gateway.html
Just want to confirm that the appliance being referred to here is not an OVA based installation.

We want to do an in-place upgrade of the Gateway in a sequential manner (for all 4 of our gateways which are in a cluster). Let me know if there is anything else in terms of best practices we need to consider.

Can you do upgrade from 9.0 to 9.4 directly, wont you have to do 9.1, 9.2 , 9.3 and then 9.4. It will be good to know.

Also for cluster sequential upgrade will you not need to disable replication, bring the node to standalone then upgrade and insert back?

Yes, we should be able to upgrade from 9.0 to 9.4 directly. The following link seems to confirm that as well:
    https://techdocs.broadcom.com/content/broadcom/techdocs/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/layer7-api-management/api-gateway/9-4/release-notes-9-4/list-of-update-files.html

Am not sure if anybody has done this on AWS though ?

there is no difference to AWS AMI to OVA. At the end upgrade process is same as .ova
