Hello Anliket,
You may want to look at the expedited upgrade procedure. In essence, it's a new instance and you import the data over to the new AMI Appliance. This will allow you to set it up on an upgraded AMI Appliance as well. It should flow as set up new AMI for 9.4, do a dump of your 9.0 SSG DB, import that data into your new 9.4 appliance, upgrade, and update the DB to the new version of MySQL. As this is an AMI I would test the procedure before going to prod with it so you have it down pat.
