  • 1.  Automic Upgrade from Version 10 to 12.3

    Posted Sep 08, 2020 08:48 AM

    Hi
Please, I would like to know if it is possible to migrate UC4 AUTOMIC 10.0 to the latest version, 12.3,using the EXPORT/IMPORT strategy or can there be some incompatibilities?

OR is it better to migrate 10.0 to 11.1, 11.1 to 11.2 and finally 11.2 to 12.x?

Currently the database is ORACLE and the new installation will be MSSQL SQLSERVER.
Is it possible to migrate historical data from ORACLE to MSSQL SERVER?

    The current environment is:

    Windows 2008R2 / Oracle 12c – with UC4 10.0

    The future environment will be:

    Windows 2016 /MSSQL Server 2017 or 2018 – with AWA 12.3.

    Thx

    Hi, Carlos,
it sounds like you have a question about UC4 / Automic Workload Automation / Automic Automation. If so, you should post your question in the Automic Workload Automation community.
But let's have a quick technical assessment of your question:
    • You don't have to migrate from 10.0 to 11.1, from 11.1 to 11.2, etc.
    • What exactly do you mean by export/import strategy? Via XML? You can do that in principle, but it is definitely not possible due to size restrictions. The recommended way is via DBunload and DBload. This should also work for the migration of the statistics.
    • Of course, incompatibilities can occur, at least depending on the functions you use. Take a look at the release notes at: https://docs.automic.com/tools/release_notes. There you can choose your previous version and your future version. But beware: When you jump to a new version, the result might kill you - and unfortunately not all changes are listed. :-o Conclusion: Test, test and test again.
    • A big change for your users will be the switch from the Java User Interface to the Automic Web Interface.
So, this is enough to give you a short overview of the topic.

    Good luck,
    Tim

-->Yes, you are right the community in which I should send my question is AWA.

      - Understood!

      - For the customer the most important thing is to import your JOBS JOBP, workflow .. your artifacts .. the data is not important for them !!
