  • 1.  Applications Manager Agent -- Can it be upgraded in place?

    Posted Jun 24, 2020 03:15 PM
Our AppWorx Master is on Windows but I'm trying to update our Linux Agent. From the documentation, it appears you run cdinst.sh from the destination directory -- but I'm getting several missing file error (see below.)

Does anyone know if an Agent can be updated in-place?
    [apwxwcu@catamount31 appworx]$ HPIA64.LINUX.WINDOWS/V9/cdinst.sh

    Hi,

It may bot be important. Do you transfer the package into your Linux via binary mode?  It looks like your compress files are broken. Compress files must be transfer in binary mode.

    Hi Henson and Peter,

I'm having the same issue and I have ftp/bin over the downloaded Applications.Manager_AM.Image_HPIA64.LINUX.WINDOWS_9_3_0+build.1.zip file.

I'm running the install as the 'appworx' user and it has a separate mount point which is 50Gb w/same owenership.

This is a new fresh install in my case.

    Tania,

Please try to download the zip fileagain. It must download in binary mode because it is a compress file. Using other mode to download it will get the error.

I did (twice lol) and it worked fine when I was upgrading the master.
I just found this link and it may be related to a PATH issue.
    I'll let you know.

So far me, the problem was that I was calling the installer without the full path.

    For example, I was running:

    ./cdinst.sh

    Instead of:

    /tmp/AppWorxInstall/cdinst.sh

As the user account Appworx runs as, i.e. appworx, you need to cd where the agent software was instaled / $AW_HOME.
Then run the cdinst.sh using full path where it is located, in your case /tmp/AppWorxInstall/cdinst.sh.

I'm doing that yet having the issue I found in the link.

    Resolved the issue.

I read the cdinst.sh and I saw this:

    if [ "$uname" = "LINUX" ]
    then
    operating_system=5
    if [ ! -x /usr/bin/uncompress ]
    then
    alias uncompress=gunzip
    fi
    fi

    Therefore, I did two thing:
    1.  checked the path of uncompress and it was under /bin (which uncompress), so I add /usr/bin to the path, i.e. export PATH=/usr/bin:$PATH
    2.  manually in that same shell executed the alias above:  alias uncompress=gunzip

Then the cdinst.sh was able to uncompress the required files during the install.

Hope it helps you as well Henson.
