Requirements that focus entirely on functionality and technicalities can easily overshadow the actual needs of users. This is why we have you in mind first whenever we focus on providing solutions for you.
To communicate your needs appropriately we use personas. These are realistic representations of actual users. Personas have a name, a role, interests, motivations, goals and frustrations. Keeping these factors in mind, we can make sound decisions in a wide variety of situations.
Software engineers and designers can create tailored user interfaces, technical writers can address the appropriate audience when describing functionality, product managers can target the right users when forming new requirements and so on.
Instead of talking about what the user interface should offer to the user, we talk about what our users need from the user interface. This difference in perspective might appear subtle, but it is crucial when aiming for a great user experience.
