Rally Office Hours April 21, 2022 Recap

As a follow-up from our April 21, Rally Office Hours session, we’d like to share some highlights in addition to the questions that were asked, along with their respective answers. We briefly demo a helpful Rally Tip each week and call it the Learning Corner. This week, Jason Deno shared a brief demo on how to create a Milestone Dashboard. A recording is available below, comment on this blog with other features you would like to see!

This week’s Learning Corner: Milestone Dashboard

Thank you to all who joined us live. We appreciate your feedback and participation in the last session and are looking forward to our next one. If you were not able to attend, there is always an opportunity to ask questions here on the Rally Community discussion board and we'll do our best to answer.

Join us every Thursday, at 12 PM ET (register for upcoming sessions). We look forward to connecting with you!

April 21, Session Recap

Q: Can Custom Dashboards be moved easily - for example from Home to Track - if you feel that it's better there or does it have to be re-created  under a different column ? Do I have to recreate it? or can I easily move it?  If you are using classic view you see collections of pages across the top, currently you cannot move them across page, you would need to recreate.  In Personal navigation, you typically pin the pages on the sidebar and can re-order them.

A: We answered that on the call.  No, dashboards can not move from under one menu option to another. However, in Personalized Navigation mode, any page can be pinned to the left-side bar.

Q: I tested the Timebox admin new functionality and it is not working for project admin.

Timebox admin is intended to be a new user role, different than Project Admin or Workspace Admin.  And timebox admin is not inherited by project admins, it will need to be explicitly enabled.  This is intended to restrict changing the names and dates of iterations/timeboxes.

A: 1. Timebox Admin help page: https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/agile-development-and-management/rally-platform-ca-agile-central/rally/using/use-timeboxes.html

  1. Timebox Admin is a new role that can be assigned to any user by selecting a checkbox on the user objects (similar to other roles such as: Planner, Investment Admin).  Once selected then this user will be able to edit timeboxes in workspace that have restricted their timebox administration. Restricting timeboxes will make the Name, Start Date and End Date of the timebox (iteration, release) read-only, other fields are still editable. Only TimeBox Admins, Workspace Admins and Sub-Admins can still modify the Name, Start Date and End Date.

Q: I was able to hear much of the VSM Virtual Summit yesterday and many of the presentors spoke of "Roadmaps" but I didn't see them demonstrated. Is that new functionality in Rally?

A:  The roadmap functionality you are referring to for our VSM solution resides in Clarity, however in Rally we use portfolio timelines for planning and execution.  The integration between Clarity and Rally keeps the value streams aligned.
