Service Virtualization

CA World was incredible this week.  The meetings with existing and new customers were spot on when we finally debuted the amazing new DevTest Portal with all its features to increase usability and user adoption of service virtualization in your DevTest teams. 

Just a few hours ago, we reached the required number of sign offs to call the "beta" complete on this release.  Thanks to Ulrich_Vogt and Koustubh Warty for completing the beta testing phase on time by supporting the 55+ customers and partners that participated in this round of Customer Validation.  While we have a large number of Customer Validation participants that have completed their testing and reviews, a few others will plan to review continuously over the next few months so that we can incrementally improve the user interface and new features.

The experience on this release has been exciting.  Regular sprint reviews with our Customer Validation team, ongoing feedback, iterating each sprint and moving the product forward in usability and in core features - we have seriously built something together, with our customers to help them succeed in removing constraints in their DevTest cycle.

As we ramp up to the general availability (GA) of CA Service Virtualization 8.0, I will share a bit of the content from the Customer Validation program and CA World to get you all acclimated with this monumental release.  Here's a short list to get started:

• Webcast Replay: 8.0 Teaser & What we're doing at CA World '14: This webcast is a great start to get an overview of all the DevTest 8.0 releases.
• What's New in CA Service Virtualization 8.0 - CA World Pre-Conference Session: This is the presentation from our pre-conference session entitled "How cool is that CA Service Virtualization 8.0 with new UI's and recorders?!"
• Recording and Editing Virtual Services in CA Service Virtualization 8.0 - YouTube: The demo portion of the pre-conference session was re-recorded and posted on YouTube in this quick video.
• Demo: Learning Mode: This is a demo of one of newly patented features announced at CA World.  Learning mode is a new execution mode for virtual services allowing both a virtual and live service to contribute responses (and learn them) when a new request is sent through. This along with two additional execution modes are described in detail in this blog and demo.
• ODP makes moot the question, “Do you support that protocol?”: This blog entry gives a high-level overview of the newly patented Opaque Data Processing technology included in CA Service Virtualization 8.0. ODP helps match requests and provide accurate responses to any type of message by using byte-level matching instead of needing to translate the protocol.
• Virtualizing the SME with  Opaque Data Processing: This is the deep-dive presentation at CA World regarding Opaque Data Processing.  Thank you to Robert Williams and Steve Versteeg for a job well done!
