2015: An EPIC year for CA APM

2015 was an EPIC year for CA APM!  It was the year we delivered new innovations, became agile and incorporated a start-up like culture within CA APM.  Here’s a look at the top 10 highlights of 2015:

  • Launched one of our biggest releases CA APM 10 with over 9 new patents and 3 new innovative features based on our extensive user design research and driving us towards E.P.I.C. (easy, proactive, intelligent and collaborative).
  • Introduced a prescriptive approach to APM allowing Pete, a first level support analyst, to easily triage application issues without having to involve an expert every time.
  • Delivered industry leading innovation:
    • Perspectives allows you to easily create task-relevant views based on attributes important to a specific role or immediate task such as location, business unit or application component.
    • Timeline provides the ability to visually depict changes in app environments so teams can quickly identify when and where changes occurred along with the resulting service impact so DevOps teams receive recommended fixes in real time.
    • Differential Analysis helps you to quickly recognize problems as they develop and intuitively understand the most critical and recurrent problems across your application landscape—with no configuration required.
  • Increased agility delivering 3 releases in the last 3 months including the latest CA APM 10.1 that introduced a new Node.js agent based on a partnership with Strongloop
  • Added the ability to monitoring Docker Containers, providing insights into application performance and container health.
  • Reduced complexity introduced by new Microservices architectures.
  • Joined the Cloud Foundry Foundation and added support for Cloud Foundry with a Cloud Foundry Java buildpack.
  • Incorporated a start-up like culture in the way we deliver, talk and think about application performance and user experience.  This year we ran an APM Hackathon which fostered innovation and collaboration across our worldwide APM teams. Stay tune for another blog post on the results from the hackathon.
  • Ended the year with another successful CA World where we presented our APM vision, deep dive technical talks and customer success stories.
  • Moved into the Challengers Quadrant of the 2015 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Application Performance Monitoring Suites for our CA APM Solution.

It’s been a fun and exciting 2015 and I look forward to seeing what 2016 brings to CA APM.
