Broadcom is implementing Digital Package Signing across our mainframe software portfolio to ensure the authenticity and integrity of maintenance packages, addressing critical supply chain risk.
Due to recent IBM enhancements to SMP/E and z/OSMF, immediate action is required to configure your z/OS environment. The four key readiness steps include:
obtaining and importing the public certificate into a Keyring, configuring security access for the SMP/E user ID, updating SMP/E RECEIVE ORDER statements for signed packages, and modifying GIMZIP access permissions to handle unsigned
packages. This process is essential to prevent maintenance failures and protect your systems from malicious or tampered software.

In this course, you will be able to:
    • Explain the necessity of Digital Package Signing for mitigating software supply chain risks
    • Identify the 4 Key Readiness Steps
    • Prepare for signed and unsigned packages
