  • 1.  Throughput on a sprint basis...not month-by-month?

I understand velocity, which is calculated each sprint.  I want to use throughput to plan sprints, but the Throughput Report calculates on a monthly basis.  No idea why Rally would choose a timeframe not's completely unrelated to our development cycle.

Any idea if there's a way to get info on throughput based on each sprint, so we can use that going forward for planning?

@Scott Fawcett one option could be to try using the new Custom Views feature and use the Bar/Column Chart widget to create a custom view that shows the Count (or Sum of Plan Estimate) of Accepted Stories and Defects per iteration.  The caveat with this approach that the throughput applies to the sprint the accepted item is associated with regardless of WHEN the item was accepted.

Here is an example of the resulting chart (on a custom view filtered by Release):
And here is the configuration that was used for that chart (a Release filtered custom view):

Custom Views is available as BETA through the Feature Preview option in your personal settings.

ok.  I'll play around with that.  But, having it count regardless of when accepted kinda messes up the throughput calculation.  We don't wanna be planning with a throughput value that includes a pile of carry-over work, which is an adjacent problem I also need to solve with most teams.
