Symantec IGA release 15.0 - Deployment Guide

Hi All

We have prepared a deployment guide for the new Symantec IGA r15, to assist all those who are getting to know the new IGA Xpress tool, as well as the mogrify and the new deployment model.

It covers 3 basic scenarios:

1. Migration from from a vApp implementation
2. Migration from a Standalone (On Prem) implementation
3. A new implementation

While there is no intention for it to replace the official documentation, it should assist with providing the syntax for the deployments to be successful.

Dear Rinat,

Thanks for sharing the deployment guide, I would like to confirm migration plan for 3 nodes cluster(Vapp)

 

Currently for IGA r15, there is fixpack 3.

Let's said we have installed IGAXpress on all 3 nodes with base version r15.0,shall we perform the patching and update with fixpack 3 first, before perform mogrify or before perform services deployment ?

 

or after installed with IGAXpress on all 3 nodes with base version r15, should perform service deployment & mogrify(data migration) 1st, once all data is migration, then only we perform patching to fix pack 3 ?

 

Kindly advice which approach to go for ?

Ideally, you should aim to have the latest code level in place (ie 15.0 fixpack 3) before restoring from export.zip and deploying any of the services. Keep in mind we would need to have the services deployed for data (impd / ustore) restore to work.

Rinat,   Excellent work!    Very clear steps to assist with loading an environment.

The use of the REST interface has shorted deployment considerably with integration to dev-ops processes.
 - We also use an IP REST process to populate the Identity Portal Deployment Xpress package in this new environment. 

I am a fan of the migration of the ccs process integration back into the provisioning server to remove a possible bottleneck.  
The registration process for the ccs process is very straight forward and interesting to view directly in the provisioning directory.

- It appears all "CCS type" namespaces are auto assigned.   



Is there a roadmap to show the status of the ccs services on the IGA Xpress Dashboad UI, in addition to the JCS (Connector Services)?  e.g. imps_cfsconflg list

Hi Rinat, thanks for this effort. I am planning to upgrade an standalone 14.5 windows based installation to 15.0. Is possible to install cluster with first node with all services, and install another nodes in a later moment? We wish to upgrade this in 2 fases.

Starting with release 15.0, Symantec IGA supports a new deployment model (Symantec IGA Xpress), as a replacement for the existing standalone and Virtual Appliance models. The new model manages the entire deployment lifecycle of IGA, ensuring a smooth installation, upgrade, and migration experience.

With this new release, all main services (IM / IP / IG / IMPS / IMPD etc) are deployed on Linux only, with CCS (C++ Connector Server) still requiring Windows server installation.
