    Hello Mainframe Software community!

    The Enterprise Support for Zowe team is pleased to announce the release of Zowe CLI v3.6. There are several updates in this release, including breaking changes of which you should be aware. Please read on to learn more.

    This release includes:

    • DBM for Db2 Plug-in for Zowe CLI updates

    • IBM CICS Plug-in for Zowe CLI enhancement

    • IBM Db2 Database Plug-in for Zowe CLI enhancements and fixes

    • IBM MQ Plug-in for Zowe CLI enhancements, including a breaking change

    • IBM z/OS FTP Plug-in for Zowe CLI enhancement and fix 

    • MAT Analyze Plug-in for Zowe CLI enhancements and fixes

    • OPS/MVS Plug-in for Zowe CLI fixes

    • SYSVIEW Plug-in for Zowe CLI fixes

    • Zowe CLI 3.6 enhancements and fixes, including breaking changes

    DBM for Db2 Plug-in for Zowe CLI

    DBM for Db2 Database Plug-in for Zowe CLI v3.0.11 includes the following updates:

    • Fixed plug-in installation failure on Windows when using Command Prompt or PowerShell.

    • Ensured authentication credential selection strictly follows the configured authOrder property.

    IBM CICS Plug-in for Zowe CLI

    IBM CICS Plug-in for Zowe CLI v6.23.0 includes the following updates:

    • Added open and close local file operations. [#241]

    IBM Db2 Database Plug-in for Zowe CLI

    IBM Db2 Database Plug-in for Zowe CLI v6.1.17 includes the following updates:

    • Added a post-install check that fails the plug-in installation with instructions for completing the installation of the bundled ibm_db package when npm does not run its install script. [#242]

    • Updated and bundled the ibm_db package for technical currency. [#242]

    • Updated the form-data dependency for technical currency. [#205]

    • Updated the axios dependency for technical currency. [#203]

    • Updated the axios dependency for technical currency. [#202]

    • Miscellaneous security fixes.

    IBM MQ Plug-in for Zowe CLI

    IBM MQ Plug-in for Zowe CLI v4.0.1 includes the following updates:

    • BREAKING CHANGE: Changed the default value of the reject-unauthorized option to true so that TLS certificates presented by the IBM MQ REST API are validated by default. Profiles or commands relying on the previous insecure default must now explicitly pass --reject-unauthorized false. [#127]

    • Updated minimum supported version of Node from 18 to 20. Added Node 24 support. [#91]

    IBM z/OS FTP Plug-in for Zowe CLI

    IBM z/OS FTP Plug-in for Zowe CLI v3.1.0 includes the following updates:

    • Bundled the zos-node-accessor package for technical currency. [#226]

    • Miscellaneous security fixes.

    MAT Analyze Plug-in for Zowe CLI

    MAT Analyze Plug-in for Zowe CLI v4.1.0 includes the following updates:

    • Endevor connection details for --listing (host, port, credentials) must be configured locally with the --endevor-* options or ZOWE_OPT_ENDEVOR_* environment variables.

    • Resolved an issue where histogram listings were not displayed in responses.

    • Updated plug-in to support the MAT REST API SpringBoot v3 (/matapi/api/v3, /api/v3).

    • Fixed issue with displaying numeric values in responses.

    • Added support for the histogram commands in IDEAL and NATURAL modes.

    • Added support for the codeview commands in IDEAL and NATURAL modes.

    • Added support for the adabas commands.

    • The previous histogram command has been replaced with a new version that supports CSECT  mode. Command zowe mat monitor codeview histogram requires positional argument csect for the CSECT mode: zowe mat monitor codeview histogram csect [options]

    • Updated the profile creation instructions in documentation.

    • Miscellaneous security fixes.

    OPS/MVS Plug-in for Zowe CLI

    OPS/MVS Plug-in for Zowe CLI v5.3.5 includes the following updates:

    • Miscellaneous security fixes.

    SYSVIEW Plug-in for Zowe CLI

    SYSVIEW Plug-in for Zowe CLI v2.0.2 includes the following updates:

    • Miscellaneous security fixes. 

    Zowe CLI

    Zowe CLI v8.36.0 includes the following updates:

    • BREAKING CHANGE: zowe zos-uss (ssh) commands now verify the z/OS SSH server's host key before sending credentials. On first connect you confirm the fingerprint and the key is saved to your ssh profile; a changed key is rejected. Use --insecure to skip verification or --host-key to pin a key. [#2813]

    • BREAKING CHANGE: Updated the zowe zos-files (ds/uss) edit command to confirm their custom editor before use. [#2740]

    • Added the ability to resolve data set aliases to their true target names using the zowe zos-files list alias command or the List.resolveAlias SDK method. [#2728]

    • Fixed "Access is denied" error when running CLI commands on Windows if daemon mode is active. [#2808]

    • Reduced the encoding of URIs to the minimum that still allows Zowe SDK operations to work successfully in the current z/OS environment. [#2758]

    • Standardized the help text to use <The User Home Directory>/.zowe instead of ~/.zowe. [#2541]

    • Updated the tar dependency for technical currency. [#2752]

    • Added a new --legacy option to the zowe tso issue command command, allowing the user to force the use of the previous TSO command functionality (where Zowe CLI creates and tears down the TSO address space via multiple API calls). This is useful for working around an error reading "Did not receive output from the z/OSMF TSO API" that might occur with the newer TSO API. [#2738]

    • Improved the error message if z/OSMF fails to return any output when executing a TSO command. [#2738]

    • Updated the error handling for plug-in installation to report the first failure that occurs. [#2722]

    • Updated the display of failures from third party programs to include more diagnostic information while avoiding repeated text. [#2722]

    • Updated zowe daemon enable help text to warn users that the Zowe bin directory must be on your PATH after enabling daemon mode. [#2717]

    • Updated various dependencies for technical currency. [#2817]

    • Miscellaneous security fixes.
