On NSX 4.2.3.2, SNMP v2c works correctly right after configuration (GUI or CLI), but after 1 hour (+ or -) SNMP traps stop and the service vmware-snmpd is found running
At the same time, the CLI shows:

    get snmp v2-configured → false

while the GUI still shows SNMP as enabled.

In the vmware-snmpd logs the following message appears repeatedly:

serial number longer than rfc 4133 allows, truncating

The system serial number (dmidecode -s system-serial-number) is 54 characters long, exceeding the RFC 4133 limit (32 chars) for entPhysicalSerialNum.
It looks like, after this condition, NSX 4.2.3.2 treats SNMP as invalid and stops the service automatically.

I cannot modify the VM serial number or SNMP config files.

Has anyone else seen this on NSX 4.2.3.x?
Is this a known issue? If so, how can I resolve it?
