I have several Symantec VIP hardware tokens that all work fine. However, I just purchased a new one from Amazon (using the link provided to Amazon from the "Buy Hardware Token" on the https://vip.symantec.com/ web page. The serial number of the token that I received starts with FT214499xxxxx.
When I try and use that token at my financial institution, they tell me that the serial number can't be registered in their system for some reason. I have an older VIP token registered there and it works fine. It is just getting old and I wanted to replace it before the battery goes dead.
I also tried to use the "Test your VIP credential" on the https://vip.symantec.com/ web page, and when I enter the serial number when it asks for me to enter the credential ID and press "Continue", it simply returns back and asks for the credential ID again. All of my older hardware tokens work fine on this test page.
All of this makes me think that something may have changed in the new batch (or generation) of hardware tokens that makes them incompatible with companies who allow their use, or there is something faulty with this batch (or maybe just the one I purchased). I would think it should work on the Symantec test page at least!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
