Live Invocation for REST services

Hi Team,

 

I am trying to implement switching endpoints in DevTest Workstation 10.7 for a REST service. I want to match request attribute values and decide whether to return virtual response to client or send the request to Live endpoint. Also I want to setup multiple responses based on different request attribute values within the VSE. Can someone share me detailed steps to do this. I tried to edit the VSM, but not able to find the right options to do this.

Hi CS CS, 

You can customize the functionality you are looking in your VSM. Here is what I recommend you to try.

. You can capture the Attribute value to a Property using one of the Filters or using Request Data Copier DPH and select Attributes. Once the Property is available, you can do an Assert on it and set the Next step (VS Image Response or HTTP Live Invocation). Ensure Property Matches Expression Assertion might help you.

. For the multiple responses, you can add multiple specific responses in VSI and change the Attribute values and add different responses.

If you can open a support case, I can do zoom call and help you. I see you are using 10.7 and it is out of support. Are you planning to upgrade to the latest version of DevTest?

You can add Request Data Copier after recording also in VSM-->HTTP Listen step. Also, you can add Filters for steps in VSM. Can you open a support case?

Hi Prema,

Thank you for your response. I have created this service using Request/Response pair. Looks like 

Request Data Copier Data Protocol option is available during recording. Other option Filters, seems to be associated with Tests. Can you guide me whether I will have to create test first? or any other way to read the args from request and use for redirecting the request accordingly.
