We want to create lessons learned log within projects but be able to review and manage a consolidated lessons learned log across all projects as well.

So far we have set up Lessons Learned as a custom sub-object of the projects object but haven't figured out how to be able to see and manage a consolidated view.

As an alternative, if we set up Lessons Learned as a master object, could we include a page within projects that shows the lessons learned filtered for just their projects?  And how could we ensure that if you create a new Lesson within a project it would be linked to that project?

    Thanks!

    Hi Tom,

One suggestion is to use Hierarchies.

If it is a common investment sub-object, you should be able to add the module into the Hierarchy Blueprint.

There you can see the sub-object items across investments, just like you can for Staff, Tasks, RICs and Financial Plans for the group of investments that are pulled into the hierarchy.

Another suggestion is to create a Portlet and place it on a MUX 'Page' and grant access to the page in MUX.

I second Kathryn's suggestion.  Most customers use a Sub-Object on the project for Lessons Learned.  This will ensure that the context for the LL is retained at all times.  Hierarchies will allow you to aggregate up to 3,000 projects in a portfolio and you can expose Lessons Learned for real time review and dashboarding via a canvas.

The new reporting solution will also allow you to create a Lessons Learned Responsive Dashboard you can add to the top level navigation on the left menu.  With instant sync enabled, the dashboard will up updated in near realtime.

Thank you all for the replies!

As a follow-up question, how do you ensure that the hierarchy picks up all projects in the portfolio?  Is it a manual process to add projects to the hierarchy, or can it be automated?

    Hey Tom.

Rego has an asset in regoXchange that allows you to systematically sync roadmaps and hierarchies based on filter criteria.

You may also want to consider making the Lessons Learned sub-object to Investment object, so you can use it for Project, Ideas, and any other CIT objects.
