    #ProductAnnouncements

We are pleased to announce that a new Release Tracking page is now available, providing program managers, product owners, release train engineers, and engineering teams with an improved user experience with increased visibility for tracking the status of teams and features within a common release.

    Key Enhancements include:

    • Refined Feature and Work Tracking:

      • New Filtering Options:

        1. The feature list can now be filtered by Features in Release, Derived Features, and Unparented User Stories and Defects, giving you clearer control over what you view.

        2. Filter by specific feature to show the breakdown by iterations.

      • Comprehensive Rollups: Feature rollup and completion data now accurately includes associated defects and user stories, providing a complete picture of progress.

    • Clearer Definition of Features in Release:

      • The Features in Release list now provides greater visibility by including features that are outside the current project scope but have at least one child user story or defect that is within the current project scope (these were previously categorized as "Derived Features").

    • Updated Derived Feature Identification:

      • Derived Features are now indicated with a yellow D icon on the Breakdown tab. These are features that are NOT associated with the selected release, but they have at least one child user story or defect that is within the current project scope and explicitly assigned to the selected release.

We would love to hear your feedback as you begin using the updated page. Your input will help us continue to improve the experience. For additional information on the new Release Tracking, see Rally Release Notes

Thank you for your continued support.

    Regards,

    Wai-Yin Chee

Thank you for the feedback that you have submitted to us. We have rolled out a fix to bring back artifacts that are not explicitly set to a Release and several other scenarios. When scoping the Project selector to view the Release Tracking page, you may occasionally see this message suggesting large number of items returned from your projects. We recommend that you adjust the project scoping down so that this page returns all data in scope optimally. We are continuing to look into ways of improving this page for optimal viewing & tracking of the work.

    Regards,

    Wai-Yin Chee

On the new Release Tracking page please provide: 1) the ability to filter the Features, this will help greatly in avoiding the error of too many features. For example we have different types of Features ( Type = Change, Continuous Improvement, Maintenance) and use various tags and need the ability to filter by this.
    2) When a feature is selected it makes no sense to show all the projects that don't have stories in iterations for that feature. Either only show those projects with stories for that feature or at least put those with stories at the top. Showing all projects makes it doubly hard to find the work. Rally makes this basic usability mistake often.

Agree, with MarkHarris that there should be a way to handle the Projects that have no work items. Moving Projects with work items to the top and those without work items to the bottom would help. Or, add an option to toggle on/off the display of Projects with no work items on the Release Tracking Page.

Another thing we'd like to suggest is to add "All" as an option in the Features List dropdown so that all work items can be displayed in the list together if desired. In other words when "All" is selected, the Features List would show 'Features in Release', 'Derived Features', and 'Unparented User Stories and Defects' altogether in the list for the selected Release.
