It is necessary to update DCI agents before they run on z/OS 3.2 systems.
During testing we identified a change in z/OS 3.2 behavior that prevents the function of current DCI agents. The agent will not start on the z/OS 3.2 image and will generate the DCI9999E error message. This will not prevent the LPAR from completing start-up.
We have therefore released LU18987. This PTF updates agents so that they will run on z/OS 3.2 systems. Updated agents are backward compatible with z/OS 3.1 and earlier versions therefore agents can be updated well ahead of z/OS 3.2 upgrades.
To avoid interruptions we recommend including the upgrade of DCI agents early in your z/OS 3.2 upgrade plans.
