I figure it out myself =)

I think the only possible field widths for binary are 3, 5, 8 and 10. Although the documentation (Advantage CA-Earl User Guide 6.1, section 5.2.2.1 Default Editing) mentions these numbers, it lacks of example to demonstrate the details.
