#ProductAnnouncements
To reduce redundancy and streamline the configuration of the Portfolio Kanban page, we are announcing the deprecation of the Query field setting located in the board configuration menu, effective January 15, 2026.
This legacy setting provides a single, static filter method that is now duplicative of the more flexible Filters and Saved Views features available directly on the Kanban board.
Why we are making this change
Currently, the Query field setting allows for only one persistent query per project context. By deprecating this redundant field, we are encouraging the use of the on-page tools that offer significantly more flexibility:
-
Eliminating Redundancy: The front-end filtering tools provide the same data-narrowing capabilities as the backend Query setting, making the setting unnecessary.
-
Greater Flexibility: Unlike the single Query setting, Saved Views allow you to create, name, and switch between multiple filter configurations instantly without navigating to the settings menu.
Recommended Alternative: Filters or Saved Views
We recommend managing your board's content using the standard interface:
-
Filter: Use the filter bar to select your specific criteria (including advanced criteria previously used in the Query field).
-
Save: Save your configuration as a Saved View.
-
Manage: Create multiple views for different needs (e.g., "High Priority," "My Team's Work," "Feature X") and switch between them seamlessly.
Action Required
Please review your Portfolio Kanban settings. If you currently have logic entered in the Query field:
-
Copy the logic/criteria.
-
Apply those same criteria using the Filter options on the main board.
-
Save this as a new Saved View.
