CA 1 Flexible Storage (CA 1 ) GA announcement: Encryption Key Chain and 64-character DSKEYLBL support - PTF# LU17677, LU192257

Hello CA 1 Flexible Storage Community members,

As part of our Enable strategy, the CA 1 Flexible Storage team is pleased to announce the general availability of an enhancement introducing a new "Encryption Key Chain" (EKC) (PTF LU17677) and support for a 64-character DSKEYLBL (PTF LU19225).

Feature Overview

The new EKC is stored within the Tape Management Catalog (TMC) - the main database for CA 1 Flexible Storage. This EKC has the 64-character DSKEYLBL as specified from IBM and the 32-character nickname it translates to.  It allows a global default DSKEYLBL to be assigned to ALL SL tape files created, and it also allows for a DSKEYLBL to be ignored by the Tape Encryption feature, even when a DSKEYLBL has been specified.

Key Benefit

With the Encryption Key Chain, CA 1 Flexible Storage can provide the following benefits:  

• A full 64-character DSKEYLBL as specified from the External Security Manager(ESM), the JCL or the SMS DataClass (DC), and the 32-character BES nickname it translates to
• Ability of  any 32-character DSKEYLBL as specified by the ESM, JCL or SMS DC to be translated to any other 32-character BES nickname
• Capability of a default DSKEYLBL to be assigned to all SL tape files created (without having to specify anything in the ESM, JCL or SMS DC
• Translation of a DSKEYLBL to a BES nickname of "DONOTENCRYPT" without being encrypted or compressed 

• User ability to view the entire EKC from a new ISPF panel, as well as add, update and delete entries
