We are excited to announce the Deep Copy capability, a powerful new productivity tool accessible from the Actions menu in the Detail Editors, is now available in Rally as part of the core product.
Deep Copy allows you to clone an artifact (Portfolio Item or User Story) along with its hierarchy of child items. This eliminates the manual effort of recreating complex work structures item by item.
Why use it? This feature is ideal for teams managing recurring initiatives or templated work.

Example: If you run a "Quarterly Compliance Audit" or a standard "Microservice Setup" that requires a rigid, pre-defined set of tasks and stories, Deep Copy lets you spin up a fresh set of data in seconds.
What gets copied?

Hierarchy: Portfolio Items (all levels), User Stories, and Tasks.

Collections: Predecessors, Successors, Tags, and Milestones.
How to use it? You can access the Deep Copy option from the kabob menu in all Portfolio Items and User stories.
Note: To keep your data clean, Deep Copy does not transfer item States (Schedule State, State), Discussions, Defects, Test Cases, or connections to closed projects.
This functionality, now in the core product, is intended to replace the Story Deep Copy and Portfolio Item Copy Legacy apps.
