We are noticing significantly higher disk read and write activity after upgrading from v21 to v24 of the Automation Engine.
- On the application servers, disk writes have increased to around 2.2M.
- On the database side, disk reads have range from ~100K to ~600K, and disk writes from ~100 to ~700.
We have monitoring thresholds configured based on v21 behavior, and the same thresholds are now consistently breached in v24.
We understand that one major change in v24 is the database code page conversion to UTF-8.
Could this UTF-8 migration be contributing to the increased disk I/O?
If anyone has experienced similar behavior or has insights into the root cause, performance implications, or tuning considerations, please share your views.
