CA TPX Session Management for z/OS

Find Your Mainframe Product Community

11-29-2017 01:51 PM

Welcome to the NEW CA Mainframe Communities -- where information on dozens of CA mainframe products can be found within nearly a dozen communities. In each community, you'll find CA product experts and fellow users sharing their experiences and expertise -- all in the interest of collaboration and mutual success.

To make it easier for you to find the CA mainframe community that covers the products you use, I've created this table -- which lists each of the products/categories covered under each of our mainframe communities.

If you'd like a tour of your community, please reach out to me here LennThompson or at lenn.thompson@broadcom.com and I'd be happy to set it up for you.

Hi Len, CA-1, Tape Management, is still not in the "CA Mainframe Community", but the other Storage products are. Can we move CA-1 into this group? Brgds, Frank

thank you for the table...like having a GPS !!!

Thanks, Frank. I expect we'll make some more changes this year.

Hi, just browsed thru the "CA Mainframe Community" and found TLMS is still there, but the other Tape Management System CA-1 is in the "CA Mainframe Management & Analytics" group. I suggest to move TLMS where all the MF storage products are, the "Management & Analytics" group.

Hi Don, CA Chorus Security & Compliance had these components:

  • an ESM (External Security Manager) - CA ACF2, CA Top Secret, but also IBM's RACF
  • CA Compliance Manager for z/OS
  • DSI Server (CA Distributed Security Integration for z/OS)
  • CA LDAP Server (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol)
  • and a Database for storing CA security definition and compliance events, it could be CA Datacom/AD or IBM's DB2 for z/OS

Lenn –

What is CA Chorus Security & Compliance?  I thought that was ACF2/TSS/etc.

Jerry, I talked with SteveSolomon and we decided to add CA PanApt to the CA Mainframe Community where Panvalet and Librarian are.

... and also CA PanAPT is nowhere on this list -- it too might find a good home in DevOps

Hi Lenn,

just browsed through the list shown above, finding:

  • CA Disk          - Mainframe Community
  • TLMS                - Mainframe Community
  • Tape Encryption - Mainframe Community
  • Vtape         - Mainframe Community
  • CA Allocate  - Mainframe Community
  • CA-1 Tape  - Mainframe Management & Analytics
  • Vantage    - Mainframe Management & Analytics

All of them are mainframe storage products, CA-1 & TLMS are even both tape management systems.

I suggest to put all of them in the same community, to have all storage products in the same group. Probably "Tape Encryption" would fit in Mainframe Security too.

Brgds, Frank

Ryan, VM and VSE are part of the CA Mainframe Community. That's listed above just without z/ in front of them.

Lenn,

Will you be adding z/VM and/or z/VSE related products to the list?  Or is this Community strictly for z/OS related products?

Thanks, Don.

This was just our first attempt to re-align these products -- so I appreciate any and all feedback on how we've grouped them.

We'll be revisiting next year and feedback like this will be a part of any further decisions we make!

Lenn -

I'm surprised to find:

  • CA Easytrieve,
  • CA Librarian, and
  • CA Librarian

are not in the CA Mainframe DevOps category while

  • CA Endevor

is.

Fair point, OwenWilliams. Will work on that this week.

Hi Lenn,

Since your document is touted as a complete list of communities for the CA mainframe product portfolio, the absence of the CA Workload Automation community seems to be a glaring omission. So yes I believe it should be added to the document.

Cheers,

Owen

Steve,

Thanks for the comment. Always good to hear from you.

You're right -- CA 7 is part of our CA Workload Automation community. You can find JUST the CA 7 content here: CA 7

That's where it's going to sit for now -- but if you think there's value in listing WLA on this list, I'm happy to do that!

Hi Lenn,

Thanks for the table. It is a nice easy lookup for the various products.

I wonder if you can help me, is there a mainframe community that encompasses CA 7?

Some of my mainframe colleagues would benefit from such a forum.

The full marketing title is: “CA Workload Automation CA 7® Edition” and there is a community around Workload Automation but WLA a very wide area.

I think CA 7 is very Mainframe focussed and could benefit from having some kind of affiliation with mainframe communities.

Thanks

Steve
