Tech Tip: HOTFIX for ‘CPU and memory data not displayed for VMs in CCC 2.9, 2.9.2, 2.9.3’ (DE54504)

May 03, 2016 06:42 AM

Problem: Using a CapMan UIM VMware data source, CCC 2.9.x is not showing any VM data for CPU and memory. The corresponding metrics:

  • GBL_MEM_MB_ACTIVE
  • GBL_LS_PHYS_CPU_UTIL
  • GBL_LS_MEM_MB_USAGE
  • GBL_LS_PHYS_MEM_UTIL

are obtained from post-ETL queries and not included in the staged data.

Solution: The attached data source definition file corrects this behavior. Replace your existing ca_uim_vmware_db.xml file with the one attached here.

Follow these steps:

  1. Download and decompress the attached zip file to a location of your choice.
  2. Stop the Apache Tomcat service (CA_CCC).
  3. Navigate to @ CA\Capacity Command Center<version>\ApacheTomcat\webapps\DM\WEB-INF\classes.
  4. Replace the file named “ca_uim_vmware_db.xml” with the one you extracted from the attached zip file.
  5. Start the Apache Tomcat service (CA_CCC).
