Home Page not loading after login

Hi , 

One of the naive user has configured/(made changes) to the Home page by using the Personalize(gear icon) and when next day he logged into the application it's spinning continuously , but Home page doesn't load.

 

Issue is found yesterday, he is not able to recollect what configurations he made.

 

We have some restoring links when the Hierarchy view collapses in the Project.

 

Do we have any work around or any  restoring links to back the Home page view for a particular user?

Administrators can set a user's home page back to the system-default page. 

(In the Administration menu, against the Resource properties.)

Hello,

 

If this is the General page, here's the steps to restore the defaults for the user for that page:

1. Log in as a user that doesn't have the issue, then click the Personalize / Gear icon

2. Copy the URL from the browser window

3. Have the user login with the URL copied in step 2

4. Then the user can click Restore Defaults to restore the view back to the defaults (They can also first take a screen shot of the Content / Layout tabs in case they want to add something back to what they had setup prior to when the issue started)

The Steps which you mentioned will restores everything ? because user might have configured something Important, then will that be lost ?

But the personalize page for Overview: General page is not a pop-up. What happens if you use a URL like the one below, where you can choose between the portlets and the layout?

It does not matter how you get to the configuration/personalize page. If it is not a pop up it is easier to get there with the unmodified bookmark

Here you have the possibility to restore defaults, remove individual portlets and restore their default versions etc

It will restore everything on their General page, so once the user is at step 3, they could take screen shots of the Content tab, Page Filters, and Layout tabs before clicking the Restore Defaults button so that they can add the changes back after they do the restore (If the system error does reoccur after adding their modifications back in, they can add their personalizations one by one to see which one is causing the system error).

Whenever you get a page or portlet corrupted restoring it to the default or similar to another user's configuration looses all user's configuration.

 

One precaution against that is the user personally documenting the changes.

Another is the admin keeping a list of the URL's of the configuration pages so that the user can access the configuration.

That a list of the bookmarks  referred in the TEC DOC.

However, if the configuration is a pop window like in the currently supported versions, the bookmark URL needs to be manually edited and cannot be used as it is

(javascript:navigateToURLTarget('modalrefresh','app?action........)

 

While on the configuration page the user can document the content, filters and layout. On the content tab of the configuration the Overview page General tab you can see the portlets, but you cannot access their configuration pages. The admin would have to get their URL's from another user.

 

Without going to the database for the latest user modification the user might recall that by looking at the content. If the user does removing that and replacing it with the default  could solve the problem while keeping all the other customizations..

I will just add that to make sure that the user can start working in PPM, someone from the Application Admin team can go and change the Home page of the User to the current timesheet. This is will atleast let the user land up in the application without such problem, after inputting the credentials. Then later, he can again configure the Home page for himself, and just make a note that it is not good to add many portlets or portlets with HUGE result-data in the PPM Home Page, be it any user.
