    Hello Issac,

On this link that you have there is a quick explanation about in what situation you can have multiple Robots:

"Some situations are best addressed by installing multiple robots on a single host. For load balancing, you can install an additional robot on a single host to run a specific probe: for example, the discovery_server probe. For performance reasons, you can install the Unified Management Portal (UMP) on a child robot of the primary hub when monitoring small networks. For load reasons, you can use multiple robots on a server to run more than one instance of a single probe: for example, if your SNMP devices are only reachable from a specific server and you need to run more than one snmpcollector probe, you can install multiple robots on the same server for the same probe."

    Kind Regards,

Also consider the possibility that you want your CDM alerts to have an origin of PERFORMANCE and you want sqlserver and sql_response to have an origin of DBA and you want net_connect to have an origin of NOC. You can't specify origin at the probe level but you can at the robot level. So, installing multiple instances of the robot on one server gets around needing to have three servers to to run this.

We have the dual robot scenario setup for few of the customers and its similar to what Garin mentioned. For example, the customers server might have different applications running on it and the requirement is to monitor the server performance like CDM, process, services  by a specific service provider and the database performance (sqlserver or mysql) running on that server to be monitored by a different service provider or a team which is interested in only DB monitoring . Both the robots running on the server have different origins and send the data to two different HUB's , one managed by the server performance team and the other database performance team. Both the robots works independently not knowing the other one exists and collect the data and forward it to the designated HUB's or different instances of UIM

One main criteria is that both the robots and probes needs to use a different set of ports and this needs to be defined before setting up the robots
