NodeJS Collector/Node Question

  • 1.  NodeJS Collector/Node Question

    We currently have a NodeJS node agent running on and reporting to a different server than the Nodejs Collector. However within the investigator tree we see the IP of the server that NodeJS node agent is running with all the associated metrics. We see the NodeJS Collector server with all the associated metrics as a separate entry.

    What we are after is the NodeJS node agent data to appear within the investigator tree under the NodeJS Collector server entry, therefore making a visual and logical connection between node agent and collector.

    Can this be achieved with the current versions or is this in the realm of an enhancement request.

    Hi Nick:

    Changing from a discussion to a question to get more answers. Asking internally for someone to respond. My guess is this is an enhancement but I defer to those more knowledgeable

    Thanks

    Nick,

    Also if you could provide a screenshot of what you are seeing and what you are asking, that may help more too.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    The case is :

    • We have the nodejs collector agent  in a different box than the probe remote agent, in the screenshot you can see them.
      • Nodejs collector agent -> “blockchain-laboratory-uk-dev”
      • Probe remote agent -> “10.118.0.1”
    •

    We need write the probe remote agent metrics under introscope.agent.hostName’s CollectorAgent (in our case “blockchain-laboratory-uk-dev”). Currently this metrics in under probe remote agent IP.

    The easiest way to do that is write a JavaScript calculator to copy the metrics to the location you want.

    How would be able to differentiate between several NodeJS collectors when each may have several nodeJS probes being spun up on several different servers ??

    Is there anything you can add on this topic as to whether or not this is possible?

    Hi Nick:

       So based on Hiko's response, this is either an enhancement or creating a calculator. Was the answer helpful? Do you plan to submit an enhancement and create a calculator?

    Thanks

    You'll need to determine how and where the metrics are displayed using your JS calc.

    Hi Nick:

      Does the Javascript or enhancement approach (or both over time) sound like the way that you will proceed with this?

    Thanks

    Hi Nick:

        Since suggestions for next steps were given, I am going to mark as assumed answered. You may ask additional questions if appropriate

    Thanks
