We have been witnessing unintended restarts of the nodes.

    Layer 7 64bit Virtual Appliance - Version 8.0  50 GB disk 2 GB RAM 2 CPU

    - Virtual CPU's 4

    - Real Memory - 2 GB

    - Logical disk size - 50 GB

    - CPU core clock frequency 2.8 GHz

As per the CA API Gateway 9.1 recommendations, we are planning to increase the memory to 4 GB.

Minimum requirements for a host machine running the Software form factor of the CA API Gateway:

    Requirement Minimum
Networking one IPv4 or IPv6 interface
Processor Dual core processor, 2 GHz or faster
Memory 4 GB (8 GB or above recommended)

    The process id 61936

    gateway  61936  5.4 60.9 4947896 1166940 ?     Sl   02:13  24:58              \_ /opt/SecureSpan/JDK/bin/java -Dcom.l7tech.server.home=/opt/SecureSpan/Gateway/node/default -Djava.ext.dirs=/opt/SecureSpan/JDK/jre/lib/ext:/opt/SecureSpan/Gateway/runtime/lib/ext -Dcom.l7tech.server.siteminder.enabled=true -server -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -Djava.awt.headless=true -XX:CompileThreshold=1500 -Djava.util.Arrays.useLegacyMergeSort=true -Xmx957294k -Xss256k -XX:+UseParallelOldGC -XX:+UseCompressedOops -Dcom.l7tech.server.transport.reservedPorts=7001,7100 -XX:MaxPermSize=256M -Dcom.l7tech.server.home="/opt/SecureSpan/Gateway/node/default" -Dcom.l7tech.server.processControllerPresent=true -Dcom.l7tech.server.processControllerCert=/opt/SecureSpan/Controller/var/run/pc.cer -Dcom.l7tech.server.processControllerIpAddress=::1 -Dcom.l7tech.server.processControllerPort=8765 -Djava.util.logging.config.class=com.l7tech.server.log.JdkLogConfig -Dcom.l7tech.server.log.console=true -jar /opt/SecureSpan/Gateway/runtime/Gateway.jar pc run

Any additional inputs related to Memory settings/recommendations are much appreciated.

    Hey Murti,

As you indicated, running a production gateway on a node with just 2 GB of RAM is extremely low

and as a first step I would certainly allocate sufficient resources to this server and see if that helps the situation.

If you then continue to experience this situation once sufficient RAM, CPU's etc are allocated to the gateway

then I would suggest to kick off a support issue so it can be investigated further.

    Hope that helps.
