To configure CDM probe in CA unified infrastructure management for OS monitoring(Disk Usage) to generate alarms for critical ,major and minor thresholds.
Do we need to use the dynamic alarms for that and we do not need to enable the high and low thresholds buttons for Disk Usage?

And also the value we put in the configuration is the value of disk usage  or the free space available?

You can configure in two ways either admin console or Infrastructure manager .If you need 3 thresholds means you need to configure in admin console .

As a default disk space alarm triggers alert with the capacity and free space of the drive .(MB or GB)

For all the three thresholds we have to use dynamic alarms in Admin Console ?

With static alarms we cannot achieve that ..right !!

You don't have to use the dynamic alarms to get Crit, Major, Minor.  You can use a Custom Profile within the CDM probe within IM and add a Minor alarm there for the disks, CPU or Memory for static alarms.

Depending on what you are looking to achieve.  If you want to set a warning and critical alarm when disk usage reaches a certain point, you can configure that is Disk usage and thresholds either with the IM or Admin Console.  The admin console has more options available for additional configuration including enabling dynamic alarms and dynamic time over threshold.

My advice is to first determine what you want to achieve, then test the solutions provided in this thread.

I am configuring the alarms using Admin Console only. The confusion is that there we get the option of "Enable High threshold " and "Enable low threshold"  in static alarms.

So if we configure this then we will only get Major and Warning alarms when it gets breached.
But if I want to get all the three alarms for critical ,major and minor alarms then using this static alarms can we achieve that or we need to configure both static as well as dynamic??

    Like for e.g.:- when >80 %-Critical alarm
                when >75% major alarm
                when >70% minor alarm

So this can't be achieved by just configuring high and low threshold.
