  • 1.  Usage check of a portlet in Clarity

Is it possible to enable some logging to extract a usage report to check, how frequently or often any portlets in Clarity is used?

We have created a separate portlet to display the list of projects, tasks, resources and time sheets and their details in form of a report so that users can extract it based on their business requirements.

We would like to log the usage or number of times these portlets are accessed and used.

Is it possible in clarity to log such a portlet?

Don't think you can create a custom logging, but you should be able to use the app-access log files to get some level of details. Best way to identify the entries would be to first navigate to the page containing the portlet, use the portlet (like click filter if data is not displayed by default) and then check the entries in the app-access. You can then analyze the app-access for similar entries to gather the usage details.

If you are on 14.x onward then we have a job called Tomcat Analyze Job and you can run the job to populate few tables and you can query those to prepare a portlet.  This job does nothing but reads your app access logs and inserts the data in your PPM tables so that you can build portlets.
