  • 1.  Anyone performed APM 10.1 to 10.50/.51 upgrade?

Just curious to see how many of the customers have already done it or are in the process and what their experience has been?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers,

    Manish

    Hi Manish,

Currently 10.5 is not released yet.  10.3 is our latest release.  As for upgrading from 10.1 to 10.3, no widespread snafu's or gotchas.

    Thanks,

    Matt

Rumor has it that 10.5 was to be release for GA tomorrow. Any truth to that?

Tentatively it is to be released in the next few weeks.  I do not have a concrete date as of right now.

Converting to a discussion since it is a broader question.

Thanks Hal, I should've started this as a "discussion" in the first place. My apologies.

    Manish:

My guess is that you will have to wait 3-6 months to get a more representative set of answers. The early adopters are probably testing in their non-prod environments first.

    Thanks

So, now that 10.5 is officially GA and HF1 is already released...........has anyone (especially CA customers) performed the upgrade yet?

Not yet but what does HF1 fix? Just wondering if we need to apply it or not.

HF1 just addresses the issues with the installer itself if you were doing an upgrade installation. If you already installed 10.5 then you do not need to install HF1.

Thanks for the info. We won't need it then.

I just read that the backup needs 2.5x the size of the EM directory. Can someone explain why it needs that much space or is it just being very conservative?

It is for backing up the EM in the event you need to do a rollback.  Reason is, smartstor, APM DB, traces db are all taken into consideration.  So larger environments will require more space.  This way, you're prepared for the backup and don't run out of space.

that's a great feature for 10.5 (backing up EMs). Totally looking forward to upgrading from 10.1 to 10.5.0.23
